We are looking for a Packaging Engineer to join our team and play a key role in developing engaging and sustainable packaging experiences for our subscribers and our retail partners. You will be working in a world-class, cross-functional team where strong communication and collaboration are foundational to success. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of the entire design process from concept through production, keen attention to detail, and a strong understanding of sustainable packaging materials and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Developing packaging solutions for direct-to-consumer and retail packaging, including primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging that adheres to strict safety, regulatory, sustainability, and performance requirements.
  • Prepare technical packaging drawings and documentation for manufacturing.
  • Evaluate new and existing packaging solutions to improve user experience, sustainability, performance, quality, and cost.
  • Create packaging prototypes for proof of concept.
  • Maintain a shared file storage system to manage version control.
  • Provide direct input to product profitability assessments to help determine fully burdened costs associated with freight and fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Regulatory, and Graphic Design departments to implement regulatory labeling and facilitate precise product traceability.
  • Collaborate with the creative team to determine printing specifications for direct-to-consumer and retail packaging.
  • Work directly with overseas and domestic suppliers to evaluate packaging designs and optimize for manufacturing (travel expected).

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Packaging Science or related field of study.
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required due to the potential need for international travel and in-person interaction with parents and children in this role
  • Post-college industry experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of packaging manufacturing methods.
  • Experience with folding cartons and molded pulp.
  • Experience designing packaging to standards including ISO, ASTM, ISTA, etc.
  • Proven application of drafting standards and technical specifications.
  • Exceptional technical writing and verbal communication skills.
